Sarge’s Deli & The MONSTER Sammie That Defeated Us

 Sarge's Deli

“Sarge’s Monster Sandwich looks terrific, but it could use a bit more meat,” said no one. Ever. New York’s largest sandwich features stacks on stacks on stacks of house-cured pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, turkey AND salami from a NY Jewish deli institution, Sarge’s Deli. Opening in 1964, this promised land of pastrami was named after Abe “Sarge” Katz, a retired NYPD cop who gave the restaurant its signature pastrami recipe. Step inside and you’ll get a true New York deli experience—complete with signed celebrity photos, Tiffany lamps and the scent of smoky pastrami wafting past the classic diner booths.
