Let’s be real–when it comes to the Super Bowl, lots of us are here for the food and the commercials. Whether your team is in the big game this year, or you’re hosting a party where the halftime show is the highlight, these are the best game day appetizers to ensure your guests have a great time and don’t go home hungry.

Wings

Wings are a favorite superbowl party appetizer, and for good reason. They’re incredibly versatile. You can go boneless or bone–in, and flavors range from spicy buffalo wings to Jamaican jerk to lemon pepper or Alabama white sauce, with lots of options in between. Better yet, order a few different options and let your guests mix and match. And don’t forget the dip!

Nachos

Who doesn’t love a huge plate of nachos? With meat, veggies, chips and more, nachos are basically a full meal. You can throw all types of things on nachos if you make them yourself, but what’s even easier is buying a nacho kit, like Guy Fieri’s BBQ Brisket Trash Can Nachos or Memphis BBQ Nachos Kit. Let your party guests get in on the fun and assemble their own stack, then simply pop them in the oven.

Pigs in a Blanket

Kids are onto something. Pigs in a blanket, the beloved children’s birthday food, also makes great adult party fare. Class them up a notch with some homemade puff pastry and gourmet mustard, courtesy of Walter’s Hot Dogs, a Westchester, New York institution.

Charcuterie Board

Charcuterie boards are always a crowd pleaser. Opt for a mix of spicy and non-spicy meats, a variety of cheese textures, a selection of crackers, and some sides like cornichons and jam or honey. Better yet, order a pre-made charcuterie board from Zabar’s to get a quintessential New York deli experience in your living room.

Meatballs

Don’t be intimidated by the thought of serving meatballs. If you have an Instant Pot, you can keep them warm and tender throughout the entire game.

Flatbread

The best thing about flatbread is that you can adapt it to fit any specific dietary needs. Make a vegetarian flatbread, or put onions only on one half, for example. While you can mix-and-match a wide variety of toppings on any flatbread, some of our favorites are Middle Eastern-style. Zaatar flatbreads are a crowd pleaser, or go for a sampler pack, which also includes a cheese flatbread and a lamb and beef option.

Sliders

Sliders are an easy way to help your game day spread feel more substantial than just chips and dip. The best part is they typically reheat well, so you can make them ahead of time and simply pop them in the oven at halftime.

Mozzarella Sticks

Cheese and deep-fried breading––what’s not to love? When it comes to game day party appetizers, mozzarella sticks are one of the simplest, yet most satisfying, options  out there. Serve with high-quality marinara sauce to really wow your guests.

Potato Chips

Ok, yes. Potato chips seem obvious, but they’re obvious for a reason! They will for sure get eaten. Go for a mix of flavors and let your guests fill up their bowls with a little of each.

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Creamy, cheesy, and with just enough vegetables you can almost claim it’s healthy, spinach and artichoke dip is a game day staple. Serve with a mix of crackers and raw vegetables, like carrots and celery, for dipping. To really go big, offer your guests spinach and artichoke dip with lump crab.

Jalapeno Poppers

Jalapeno poppers are a great party food because most people only eat them at parties, so are always thrilled to see them. And when it comes to game day, finger foods rule.

Pickle Chips

Why not add pickle chips to your chip table? Hot and spicy pickles make a great addition to any game day spread. They add some crunch and acidity to what is often a rich feast. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, you could even make your own fried pickles.

Pretzel Bites

Pretzel bites are perfect for a party. Serve these with a few sauce options, like spicy ground mustard or beer cheese dip.

Potato Skins

Potato skins are cozy and delicious, ideal for winter football viewing. Like other appetizers on this list, you can adapt for vegetarians, and let guests mix-and-match with their own toppings, like green onions, sour cream, salsa, and more.

With these game day appetizers, no matter who scores, at least you’ll be eating well!
